We are to walk by faith and not by sight as the Bible states; however, we are not expected to walk merely as a blind one who has no direction. When we look around in the natural at those who have no physical sight, they do not just sit around being blind, and have no life. Their lives alone are a testimony for many members of the Body of Christ to take note of in the spiritual as we also have no useful physical sight, but at times we do sit around being blind, and have no life. Why do I say that in our spiritual walk we have no useful physical sight? Well, the Bible tells us to walk by spiritual faith first; and then we can bring in the natural sight. If we come at God with our natural sight, it will not be as useful to us as it should be when used in its proper role: and neither will it be pleasing to God. Therefore, if we want our natural sight to be useful in its role, then we must first come to God with our spiritual faith. Jesus said it loud and not so humbly to Thomas that it is better to first believe by faith than it is by sight: John 20:27-29, “Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing. ²⁸ And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. ²⁹ Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.” Thomas was not at peace at all until he first walked by physical sight to the truth about Jesus’ resurrection; furthermore, this method was concluded by Jesus to not be the method of the blessed. Thomas also lost eight days between hearing the news of Jesus with his doubt, and later seeing the news of Jesus in person. We can learn here with Jesus and his apostles as well as with him as the bridegroom coming for the ten virgins, that walking in faith with belief will get you what you hope for much faster than needing to walk in sight to have belief can get you. The five wise virgins with faith remained ready to go with the bridegroom without sight even as the bridegroom tarried in his coming. And the Apostles minus Thomas having received the news or faith from Mary concerning Jesus were able to have Jesus drop in the same day with that in which they hoped for. John 20:18-19, “Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that he had spoken these things unto her. ¹⁹ Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.” We live in a day of FAST, if you want what you hoped for from the Lord FASTER, believe it when you hear it, and do like I do: I fly by plane from the west coast to the east coast, and I leave the ride by bicycle to the east coast to those who really want to “sight see” along the way. We Walk By The Vision To Gain The Sight.

Many of the physically blind have done in their lives exactly what the Bible is telling all that walk by faith to do in their lives; and whether one be physically blind or not physically blind, we all have to be willing to walk by faith. 2 Corinthians 5:6-8, “Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: ⁷ (For we walk by faith, not by sight:) ⁸ We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.” Let me ask you this question: are you confident to walk by faith, and not by sight knowing that the Lord is present when we roll like that? Yeah, me too, I am confident to walk by faith, and not by sight. Plus, we know that nothing is made without the Word, and we know that the Word was made Jesus: so confidence comes from knowing that nothing that is made will be made without him. John 1:3, “All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.” We know that the Word is still the way, and that nothing has changed: Hebrews 13:8, “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.” So what has the physically blind done in their lives in which all who walk by faith can follow? They have learned to have vision in order to not have their lives perish, or be without hope. And this is exactly what the Bible tells us when it comes to having life, and having it abundantly. Proverbs 29:18, “Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.” Let’s talk vision for a minute on one level for those who are physically blind. What did they do, and what do they do to make sure vision is there? There are numerous things that have been done now for the physically blind not to be without vision, but I will just name a few to make my point. They have service dogs or guide dogs, they use the long white cane, they use human guides and also there are electronic aids just to name a few of the things that are done to have vision; and not perish or be without hope. These methods replaces not having vision with things, pets, and people with vision that gives them confidence to walk in those visions. There are things that give better vision to people who already have vision like glasses, contacts, or laser surgery. I can recall in one of my favorite movies when the pilots while in battle say “I got tone, I got good tone.” They are really saying that “I got better vision by my hearing the tone,” as it lets me know that the time to fire is now. And we all know that the faith tone or faith substance is all about the now: Hebrews 11:1, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” We Walk By The Vision To Gain The Sight.

Let’s talk vision for a minute on another level for those of us that are not physically blind, as well for those that are physically blind where both desire to walk spiritually by faith and not by sight. When someone in the Northeastern part of the United States in the month of January say that my vision is not good at all, and I don’t think that I need to try and come into the office today. It is a high possibility that the person is not speaking of their personal ability to see clearly. It is a much higher possibility that the person is speaking of the weather conditions in which they live in; and the other person being spoken with has full understanding of the vision problem being spoken of because they are experiencing the same conditions, or the same faith. There is no need for the person to clarify the statement so that the other person knows that it is not the eyes in question. When we walk in faith to bring to pass that which we hope for, we need to have a vision or have something in which all involved can understand. Basic Bible let’s us know the vision of God by the Word of God. The Bible is where we know that we will be on the same page with God, and therefore, we know what to look for from God. So when we see substances that show itself that line up with what God has said, then we know that we have a service dog, white cane, I got tone, or many other substances from the vision or the Word to give us the confidence to move on it when it shows up for us to move. Now upper level relationship that extends the Bible also let’s us know the vision between us and God that may go beyond just the written Word, but still in accordance with the Will of God for our lives. We are told to write down the vision in order for each involved, including God, to know how to run. Yes, God wants to know the desires of your heart as you know them so that he can move you the best way for you to follow according to his Will to get that which you hoped for. Habakkuk 2:1-2, “I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved. ² And the Lord answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.” We must have vision when we walk by faith, and not by sight. We need to know that God the Spirit is moving on our behalf when he moves the vision. When the vision is written down, I will not forget or wonder if a move was from God. When substance come to you that fits the vision, but does not give you peace; then let it pass and wait for more substance concerning the vision to come your way. Sometimes it’s like a puzzle, you may get a piece early that does not fit until later. I always think of walking by faith, and not by sight like playing the child’s game go-fish. I know that faith is the substance of things hope for; therefore, if a piece of faith substance come to me, and let’s say that it is a number 2, when I look at the vision written down, if I see number 2’s or substances that need a number 2 to bring it to pass, then I know to walk in that number 2. If the substance is a part of my hope or vision or faith, then it is a good chance that I need to walk in that substance to bring what I hope for to past. I can now use my natural or physical sight in its role since the substance came by faith as it matched the vision, or the word, or the thing hoped for. We Walk By The Vision To Gain The Sight.
