The one thing that we can count on from the Father as we climb the spiritual ladder is the fact that He always has our back. It does not matter where we are in our ascension, He is right there ready to help us when we need it. Spiritual help 101 tells us exactly what to do first at any point along our journey: Ephesians 6:13, “Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” You can refresh your memory on the whole armour of God in verses 11-18, and shine up any dull pieces you may have to be made ready for battle. What happens when you have done all to withstand in the evil day, and now you are left to just withstand the day? Sometimes when you are climbing up the spiritual ladder, the next level has less devils because of the elevation, or the sovereign space of God concerning the operation; and your main task at hand is to just survive the day up. One good example is the Prophet Elijah at the Brook of Cherith: what was the Prophet to do once the ravens had missed lunch call a few times, and the brook’s water was on shore leave all of a sudden? This is when you “Spread His Wings So You Can Fly.” There is but one way for us to get away from a dried up situation, as we are on our way up the spiritual ladder; and that is to fly out of it on His wings. The skill to this maneuver comes from experience and trust that the Father always has your back even when you have been given no additional Word yet on what to do now. The Father is going to want to see that you are in a place of trust before He Spread His Wings So You Can Fly.
Whenever you find yourself in a dry place on your way up the spiritual ladder, and you are in the place because you obeyed the directions of God in the first place, just know that you are in a sovereign space of God. This is the situation in which the Prophet Elijah finds himself. You would think that the Prophet would know that everything is going to be just fine, but whatever situation we find ourselves in lets us know the area of our character being developed. And anytime we are following directions, or the Word from God, we are always on our way up the spiritual ladder. The time will come more than once when we will find ourselves as the Prophet Elijah does, hidden from the evil day, but left needing to just withstand the day of the Lord. There is no King approaching hard with his soldiers to take Prophet Elijah down, but can he trust the God that hid him safely from the King, and also fed him doing the drought to have his back now? Think back yourself to not so long ago, when God made a way for you out of no way, and then that way made by God dried up. So what does one do when the one with all power in his hand makes a way for you that runs dry, and you were left to withstand the day up? Now the Word will not do this to you, leave you high and dry: the Word of God always comes with faith, and faith is the substance of things hoped for. Now I can hear the cries of others saying that they were left high and dry by the Word before as they were placed in a situation by God that did run dry. Some may have found themselves in a place before that ran dry, but the Word didn’t do it. The Word tells you the purpose for which it was sent forth, and it will accomplish that purpose without returning back to the Father void. If the Will of the Father was for the children of Israel to be in bondage for four hundred years, the Word will be sent forth for you to know that you will be in bondage four hundred years. There is no leaving you hanging, for it was known before hand not to expect any release any earlier. The Word did not leave the Prophet hanging when the ravens stopped delivery, and the brook of Cherith dried up, for the Word did what God said until the time Father Spread His Wings So He Could Fly.
There is always a point in a faith operation when faith has done its part with the Word member of the Godhead to get us to what’s next. In Elijah’s case, faith got him to the brook. Once the Brook of Cherith cafeteria shuts down, it is not faith in which he needs, but now he needs trust that God has his back. And this is where we find ourselves at times, trying to walk in faith when only trust can do. Once the Prophet settled down in trust, as you and I must, then came Father To Spread His Wings So He Could Fly. Remember this, the Word came for him to now go to Zarephath to a widow. When the initial Word to sustain you has done what it said it would do, you must trust through the transition phase that Father has your back. We like the Prophet Elijah, must let the times and season for what is next come into play, and you can only trust into it. I continue to see many try to use faith to get out of their dry place when the Father is calling on them to just trust. Then comes the new Word to get you out of the dry place, for the Word is always your wings to fly.
