If Jesus was on earth sitting at the right hand of his Father, in the manner described to be in heaven(Luke 16:19), who would carry the most authority? And keep in mind that Father put Jesus as head of the church here on earth. Well, I tend to believe anything that Jesus says, so let’s read what Jesus says about who is the greater.
In John 14:28, Jesus says “for my Father is greater than I.” In this verse Jesus speaks straight forward concerning who is the greater between He and his Father: Father. In an earlier verse from the same chapter, Jesus explains the connection for the church that goes along with his Father being the greater. In John 14:12, Jesus says, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.” In this verse Jesus is clear to us about the role of Father. If you hang with me, says Jesus, the works that I do shall you do also, but if you want to do the greater works, I got to take you to the greater: Father!
Now remember, Jesus has been consistent with his teaching from the beginning. He has always directed his church to the next building block to be successful. Remember back in, Acts 1:4, although he had given the word and will to the apostles, he told them to” wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me. Verse 5, For John truly baptized with water; but you shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence”.
Here’s the thing with God, there is a process and an order. Although the Apostles had the word, with Jesus leaving, they would need another power or another comforter to be there for them: the Holy Ghost. He did not want them going anywhere with just the word, and no power to bring the word to pass. Now as we prepare for the final building block to the Godhead, Jesus needs his body to follow him to Father in order to receive the greater works.
So Jesus came and established the church and rooted the church in the word of Father. Jesus did the work that he was sent here to do, and then left to go prepare a place for us to come to Father. Father sent the Holy Ghost here to give us the power to do the works as Jesus had done doing his time here. Now that we have developed in the word and operate in the power of the holy Ghost to do the works that were assigned to us to do as Jesus did the works that were assigned to Him to do, it is now time for the greater: it is time for Father.
Now is your time here on earth to see Jesus sitting at the right hand of Father saying to you, I have prepared the way to the greater for you, now get it, get it, get it. To be fully empowered, you must make that move to Father right now. In John 14:6 Jesus says, “I am the way, the truth and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
Now you be the son of God as Jesus is and you walk with Father as Jesus did. The difference between you and Jesus in this scenario is that Jesus is the only begotten son and you are one of many adopted sons of Father authorized to walk in the same power as Jesus. Now learn to walk with Father as a son. To get to the greater you came to Father, but by Jesus. Hint, as a Son, do as Jesus did when dealing with his Father: call on Father. Jesus is there looking, but He’s going to let you develop your relationship with Father just as you did with him. If you are really ready for the greater walk, see Jesus as your invisible big brother watching you ride the bicycle without him being the training wheels on the side.
Father is now expecting to work with you as a Son. So who are you going call: FATHER.
