When you come upon an opportunity in which you have the skill, talent or gifting to do it, then you have to be willing to go find out the answer to this question: did the opportunity come to you to bring you before great men? The present shepherd boy, but anointed future King, did receive his opportunity to take down a Giant because he could be dependent on to deliver the lunch. The one falsely accused of wrong doing by the wife of one in which he rightly served, did receive his opportunity to interpret for the Pharaoh because he was willing to interpret to others while at his lowest state. When we say that we belong to God to do with as he pleases, he will take us up on that proclamation; and he will especially take us up on it when we don’t understand what it means. It is to some degree one of the ways in which he confounds the wise in order to get us to the opportunity. When You Can Do It, Then Jump To It.
One of my favorite scriptures in the Bible talks about how our gift will make room for us: Proverbs 18:16, “A man’s gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men.” I was thinking about what that scripture could mean because we really don’t know which gift could be the one that God will use to answer the opportunity with when it comes. You know, for as great as Moses was, being raised and trained up in the best of things that the world of Egypt had to offer; just in that alone, there is a whole lot of gifting, talent, and skill going on there with Moses for God to hide the answer to meet the opportunity when it comes. We normally think of one of the gifts of the Holy Ghost like working of miracles; or one of the five-fold ministry gifts given to men by Jesus like the Apostle, along with great character refined by the fire over time. When Moses had fled Egypt to get away from Pharaoh, it was Moses’ physical skills at the well to draw water where he helped the daughters of the Priest of Midian hold back the shepherds that brought him before the Priest. Moses did not have to think about if he had what it takes to help the daughters, he knew that he had what it takes to do the right thing. Listen, do not get lost in the great spiritual gifts; or the great natural skills and talents in which God has given to you. We need to be ready for that in which we overlook, and that is the gift in which God will use at the time of the opportunity. We are really good in many areas in which we don’t really think about, and if we don’t think about them, then the devil will not be reminded by us when the house is full for the taking of the opportunity. When You Can Do It, Then Jump To It.
