We all have read the scripture that says our gift will make room for us: Proverbs 18:16, “A man’s gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men.” And of course, like all of the word of God, that scripture is indeed true. However, I have paid great attention over the years to people who at times have shown to be gifted; however, many of these gifted people find it hard to make room for themselves with their gift. We also know from scripture that when God gives us our gifts and our callings, he doesn’t just come back and take them away from us just because we may be off track for now according to his plan and purpose: Romans 11:29, “For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.” There can be many reasons as to why one’s gift may not be making room for the person, and bringing him before great men. One of the innocent reasons is that one just might not really know what gift it is that God has given to them. It is up to God to establish within you the gift that he has given you; however, it is up to you to be in position to allow God to establish your gift. Well, one might ask what is the best way to do that? Great question, and I am glad that you ask. No, the best way to allow God to establish your gift is not through prayer: you can pray all day ALONE, and not have your gift established. One thing to remember when it comes to God concerning just about every thing, even unto the Father, is to remember these profound words that are found through out scripture: Matthew 18:18-20, “Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. 19 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. 20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” If you want to have your gift or anything else established on earth, or unestablished on earth, you need to get to a gathering of more than just one. When I use to travel doing regular engagements with the Full Gospel Business Men, it was not before my Pastor had set my first sermon to establish my calling to bring the word of God to his people. God knew the gifts and callings in which he had placed within me, but they were not established until that day at the gathering of more than one. So many times we find that we are not making room with our gifts, and coming before great men mainly because we have not had our gifts and callings yet established. Then there are times when our calling may have already been established, and it may only require that our attention to our gift be pointed out to us as we gather among those who can recognize it in order to establish it. Hebrews 10:24-25, “And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: 25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.” When you are established in your calling, you will be around those who can recognize a gift that you may have shown or moved in unaware; and they will then provoke your use of that gift unto love and to good works. This is one of the best reasons in which you want to gather, and assemble together with seasoned members of the Body of Christ who are already established in their gifts and calling. They will be the members of the Body in your midst who can recognize spiritual gifts and callings in order to play an intended role in helping you to be established in a certain gift or calling. This is exactly what the Apostle Paul did with the young Timothy. The Apostle Paul being one fully established in his calling and all the gifts of the Holy Ghost was there to tell Timothy what he needed to know in order for his gift to make room for him. If Timothy had been at home in prayer alone, there would have been no one there to provoke him unto love and to good works. 2 Timothy 1:6, “Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.” The Apostle Paul could now help Timothy establish his gift by releasing him to stir it up, and use it. I know that many of you remember being young in the ministry, and a Senior minister directed you to pray for that next person in the prayer line. That was you being provoke unto love and to good works in order to have you become established in your gifts and callings. Your Pastors already know that if you are to be established, then you must be used; and they will stir you up so that you can stir up your gift by using it. There is only one you, but God may give you more than one gift. And usually, you will eventually be gifted to the degree needed to walk in your calling. If you are called to the office of the Prophet for example, you will need to eventually be gifted to do more than just speak in tongues, or to give a prophecy to exhort one feeling down and out. The office of the Prophet will need to have as many of the revelation gifts as in accordance with the depth of the calling. When those Senior Pastors and Ministers that you assemble with begin to recognize the calling, they will also begin to look to see which gift the Holy Ghost is setting up opportunities for you to step into: a needed word of knowledge or a word of wisdom may be on your plate during that service. Many people are unware that all of this development and looking to see what God is during with everyone, is all being exercised by the ministerial team at that particular ministry. Those Seniors Ministers are always on call to God to give the younger staff and ministers every opportunity to be established. I remember back when I had already been established, and out on the road doing engagements. I had met this minister at a full Gospel Business man engagement by the name of Douglas Jiveti, from Kakamega, Kenya. He told me that my gift of prophecy was very strong. I was unaware that I even had that gift at that time. So now I would have more opportunity to make more room for myself before great men because of the new branch stirred up from my gift tree. We never know exactly all that God had instore for us; so therefore, we need to just keep living while doing our best to stir up that we already do have as the Father makes the room to branch out the rest.
