God brainstormed initially for man to be created like God without a second thought, but something changed from the initial God brainstorm just as production was getting ready to start. This left the male and female, Adam and Eve, without the likeness of God’s fulness included in the production. Let’s read part of the first God brainstorm thought that was given to the making of man: Genesis 1:26, “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness:” wait, stop right there. There it is, at the start of the verse where it says that God said let us make man in our image, after our likeness. Yeah, now read the second thought because it doesn’t appear to have come from the first Us God brainstorming summit in verse 26, but more from the greater “Will” of God to have veto power over the rest of his fulness including the “Word,” and the “Spirit” in verse 27. Genesis 1:27, “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.” So here, there is no creating man in our image, after our likeness as scripture states in verse 26; however, we do see in verse 27 where God created man in his own image, and not in an our image. You know in real life, when we say, I’ll just create man my own self; well that’s how we say, for get that, I’ll just do it as I will myself. The other thing that I noticed missing in the verse 27 production of man, there is no after our likeness, or after his likeness. There is only image added to this production of man, and if there is no likeness added for man to know, who is man suppose to be like? It did make me wonder if that was one reason over the ages that man was always erecting images of things to worship so that he would have a likeness to be after. Plus God did something with man that backfired in the Garden of Eden. If man had only image, and no likeness to follow, when man met the serpent, he would not know what to be like from within since that part of God’s fulness was kept out of his production. I don’t know if God just wanted to have a creation to love and to protect in the garden of Eden, but once the outside influence got inside the have all garden, obedience without likeness is hard to pull off. You hear of it at times in a community where the kids, especially the sons, didn’t have a father at home for them to be raised up in his likeness to know how to be a man. You then learn as you go picking up some likeness from some you know, and from some you don’t know.
Well, after years and years, and attempt after attempt, God decided that this man wasn’t going to be the man he had hoped for, so he went ahead and made that decision to fix the plan. You know what they say, if you want something done right you have to do it yourself. You see how much God wanted it to work out for man in that he stuck with the initial man plan for so long, and made no adjustments. And then came John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” And now, we have the man: he is not only the image, after the likeness of God, but he paid our sin debt so that we can finally be the man God has called us to be since that great fall in the garden. The Father did not keep anything away from this man who he brought forth: he gave him everything that he had to make sure that this man would indeed be in his image, and after his likeness. Colossians 2:9, “For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.” This man was given the fullness of the Godhead in bodily form, and although he operated in the power of God as a man, he knew from within God’s likeness, and how to be it because he was it. You and I can’t be like the man, but we can be the man that God has called us to be: Galatians 4:6, “And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.”
