Both of the stages mentioned above making up the title start out appearing to have been on the ugly end of the deal, but like Elijah said to Elisha, if you are there through all the stages unto the end, you will have that which you ask for. We all know what happens to the ugly end of the deal for that caterpillar: it has come from the egg stage to the caterpillar stage, then to what they call the pupa stage, and on to the final stage as an adult butterfly if it can make it to this end. And when we regulars see the beautiful butterfly, none of us even think about the other stages, and all it took to end up appearing to have been on the beautiful end of the deal from the get-go. I don’t think that we give enough thought to the processes that we go through once birthed as a new foolish convert on our way to becoming a bosom buddy of the Father.
Jesus seem to be asking Philip if he had given more thought to all that they have seen, and gone through while with him as to be further along in their understanding and development. John 14:9 reads, “Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father?” You know, when we first start our walk with God in the body of Christ, we are in the fool stage. We are expected to immediately start receiving, and believing thousands of years of Christian History, faith, and fact written by strange authors, and ministered to us by new strange loving people with oversight of us. The new Christian convert, just as the new caterpillar egg, must go through all the stages to become a bosom buddy of the Father. Philip is not showing Jesus that he is processing along at a time appropriate speed. Now just let me think out loud about Jesus for a minute. Philip you should not still be in the fool stage of this process after I having been so long time with you. It’s not that I am with you, it’s that you are with me: you should have just picked up enough here and there to have moved from the fool stage. When we break out in groups to role play, and later to real play, you should have taking your turn to become experienced in the ways as we go. My hour to leave here will becoming soon, and what will you have done with all this time that I have been with you? Wow, what a thought?
We have to take advantage of the time that we spend with those given oversight of us. When they do, what they do, we need to move from one stage to the next by doing what they do with them when they do it. Jesus is telling Philip that after all this time, you should have been able to at least crawl along in these areas where I walk. In order to make progress, you have to not only spend time with the ones who know the stages, but you have to apply and try the things from the next stage in order to become the thing in the next stage. Many years ago I had a dream, and I could clearly see the face of a man in the dream. Anyway to make the story short, my church that I attended at that time was about to start a week of revival. Well guess who the minister was for that week? You are right, it was the man that I had seen in my dream as clear as it could be. The rest was easy: this little caterpillar recognized what time the dream had revealed, and crawled right on over to his church the following week. Timing is indeed everything in that he started a weeknight teaching my first week there on the prophetic that lasted over the next two years. Over that long period of time with him I was able to progress closer to my hopes of becoming a bosom buddy of the Father once I got to the end of my stages. If I had not moved on the dream that I had at my hour, I would have missed my opportunity to move on to the next stage. The training moved me on to the next stage and allowed me to hold seminars, and workshops for major groups. I didn’t know that the dream was my calling card to the prophetic, and if I had missed my move, I may have been stuck in the caterpillar stage for a long time.
John 1:18, “No man hath seen God at any time, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.” Jesus is the exception to the body of Christ: he is the first, the head, and the only one who could start out declaring the Father. Jesus never went through the fool stage because he had spent so long time with the Father before the world was, and before he was made flesh. It was not anything that the Father said to Jesus that he didn’t know was money. He had spent all that time seeing, being ,and experiencing the Father to the point where he just did on earth what he had come to know when he was in his Father’s bosom: always bank On The Father. You want to not only leave the foolish stage, but go through the other stages where you can get to the stage to always bank on Father: not hope on Father, not faith on Father, and not just believe in Father, but always bank on Father because you KNOW Father. Hey, sometimes Jesus would say to the Father, I know you got this, but I just said it out loud for their hearing only.
