The few people who ever saw Jesus those thirty-some odd years of course have long retired from life on earth. However, what they saw, and recorded of Jesus still remains the blueprint by which we can know, and see the Father. We know that 1 John 4:12 as well as John 1:18 tells us that “no man hath seen God at any time,” and we all know that is true because God is spirit. However, the building blocks were laid out carefully by the God Head from the beginning to, how did they say it, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness”: yeah, that’s how I believe it was first said. So as it may be true that no man has seen God at any time, we do have men from our past that have seen God’s double for a time of thirty-some odd years. And since they saw God’s double, it makes sense to me, and Jesus said it also, that some men have known and seen God through his double. The real problem that every one of memorable age has that was born into the Body of Christ after Jesus’ ascension up on High is that none of us ever got to see Jesus in bodily form. We have to process through a mountain of experiences while applying faith to the recordings of those that did know him, and see him to help us become an image and likeness of one that we have never met in person. I say we had our work cut out for us, wouldn’t you say so too.
So what a task we have had over all these years whipping ourselves into the image, and likeness of our God who we have never seen. When you think about it, even the original twelve apostles plus the rest of the disciples that spent quality time with Jesus while in bodily form, left this earth only embracing the tip of the God iceberg. I’m thankful that there was a plan to help us get there: I don’t think that we have arrived yet, but we are now knocking way pass the mid-point of the iceberg. What makes Jesus the double of God, and the perfect model for us to emulate or mirror? I like that word mirror because of the compounded interest like qualities it infers: if Jesus is God’s double, and many of us can mirror Jesus, then there will be compounded doubles all over the place! Now that sounds exactly like what the God head had in mind from the start. I can see it clearly now. First, it pleased God to give Jesus the fullness of God: this is what made Jesus God’s double. Jesus was fully the God in flesh that God was in spirit. The coin was now complete: the invisible God in Heaven could now expand with his double, and visible God here in earth. Those first few steps were easy for God to pull off because it only required the participation of the God head: God had his will, the word raised its hand to become flesh, and the spirit moved on Mary. If you want something done right, or done the way that you would do it, then you do it your self, right? There is one problem with that policy. If you want to have many sons that will mirror your double, you will need an army that involves humans: man doing for you, and usually doing it not the way that you would do it God.
So here God goes again, but instead of leaving the natural man in charge of the operation to multiply as he did the first time with Adam, He will leave himself (his double) as head this time. And just like the first time when the devil test Adam, Jesus had to take the test also before He could start the process of recruiting people to mirror his likeness. Everyone knows how the story goes, Jesus passes all test, and set in place the new operation for clearance into the Kingdom of Heaven. Then Jesus had to go back to the home office to prepare a new place for us, but He left the process in place for us to mirror him, and multiply doubles all over the world. Father is looking for His doubles to finish the work. Jesus has put the light on many of us to answer the call when Father comes walking in the cool of our day. How do we answer Father’s call? We show the image and likeness of his double to him. It is our time to not only multiply the image, but to be the likeness: Be the Double. Boy, it hit me, I was always looking for Jesus to show up, but Jesus was always sure that I would show up for him through the process that he left in place. I didn’t get it at first, but Jesus has already showed up. He is giving me time to show up before he comes back, and show out. We don’t have to worry about what’s up, Jesus will soon bring that down. In the meantime, let’s show this place who the Father really is in our lives: He’s our double.

Adopted Son
